Synopsis

The Cancercon2010 international conference was jointly hosted by the department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras and Cancer Research and Relief Trust (CRRT), Chennai, India. The scope of this conference was to bring together the clinicians and researchers to confront the baring issues in the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This meeting was opened to oncologists, specialist clinicians dealing with cancer, general practioners, pathologists, medical students, cancer researchers, graduate students and post-doc., and covered many areas such as pathology and genetics of human cancers (cervical, breast, head and neck, gastric, lung and urogenital cancers, which have been being issues in India), childhood cancer, cancer stem cells, cancer vaccines, pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine, functional genomics, oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes, cell cycle and apoptosis, cancer susceptibility and RNAi and cancer therapeutics. A scintillating program studded with Indian Oncology leaders from All Indian Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), IIT, National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD), etc. had been designed.
