Synopsis

The 15th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences, alias: µTAS 2011(miniaturized total analysis systems), is a premier international forum for reporting advances in microfluidic systems, nanotechnology, and chemical and biological analysis, synthesis, and detection methods for chemistry and the life sciences. The Conference alternates between the European, Asian and North American continents and has hosted attendees from over 33 countries. The Conference offered plenary talks as well as contributed oral presentations and posters selected from submitted abstracts. 2011 year, total submitted abstracts were 1,251 papers; accepted papers were 694 that included oral presentation 92, posters 536, and invited paper 6. This conference was very attractive and popular. Acceptance rates of conference attendance were very low, less than 42% (especially 7% in orals) because of the high rates of the competition. Following Tokyo in 2006, Paris in 2007, San Diego in 2008, Jeju, Korea in 2009, and Groningen, the Netherlands in 2010, the Seattle venue is an exciting hub for nano, bio, and medical research. This year, over 1,113 worldwide scientists and professionals engaged in research on and the use of integrated microsystems and nanotechnology for chemistry and life sciences anticipated the conference.
